Helen is currently in Central Africa on a reconciliation mission trip with Dr. Arthur Rouner, his wife Molly, and a veteran reconciler Ms. Theresa Shatzer.  She is sending occasional emails to me (Peter) and I have been forwarding them to family and friends.  However, the list of interested friends is long.  Therefore, to make distribution of her notes more efficient, I have added this special page to her website that contains their itinerary and Helen’s emails as I receive them.  Please keep them in your prayers as they travel this rugged country and check back here for her periodic updates.  Please click on this link to view Helen’s travel reports. Besides speaking and singing at Women’s Conferences as well as Bible Conferences in general, I was recently asked, along with Peter, to serve on the Board of Directors for Bethel Ministries International (BEMI.) This is a new mission that cares for 148 Congolese and Burundian orphans in Burundi, Africa. The USA base for the mission is in Portland, Maine. I, on behalf of the mission, applied to the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches’ (NACCC) Missionary Society for membership into the Society.  BEMI’s membership application was accepted in January 2010 and will provide the BEMI exposure to many of the 400 plus Congregational churches throughout America. Peter and I serve with Pastor Adrien Nkundimana, who is based in Portland, in the ministry of BEthel Ministries International (BEMI.) BEMI is a young mission in Central Africa which serves orphans and widows who are victims of war and genocide.   To date, BEMI has provided tuition, uniforms, and school supplies to a few hundred students in Rwanda, Burundi, and Democratic Republic of Congo.  Thirty goats have been provided to widows to assist them in support of their families. May 2010: Reconciliation in Africa.  I was blessed to accompany a veteran reconciler, Rev. Dr. Arthur Rouner, and Ms. Theresa Shatzer on a 3 1/2 week trip to Africa in January.  This 13 minute video represents my summary of the work that we accomplished while there. December 27, 2009: I was privileged to deliver the preaching message at the worship service of the Congolese brethren in Portland, Maine and ended the service singing Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone. My message was entitled Three Important Things Mary Said: 1. “I am your willing servant;” 2. “I have need of a Savior;” 3. “Whatever He says, do it!” Sarah Mugeni served as translator. Peter and I are co-laborers with Pastor Adrien Nkundimana, who is based in Portland, in the ministry of BEthel Ministries International (BEMI.) BEMI is a mission in Central Africa which serves orphans and widows who are victims of war and genocide. June 2009: Distribution of goods by BEMI in Central Africa. I have been a member of missions teams visiting Jamaica several times and Trinidad and St. Maarten.  We worked mostly with women of the churches in their communities.
